Your phone is a great tool to use while searching for a condo. Not only is it useful for keeping on top of e-mails and being in touch with your realtor, but there are also some great apps that can help with everything from financing to decorating! These 5 apps are free and ones I personally use with all of my clients.
This app is my number one pick, and when I begin working with a client I always have them download it right away. The Mortgage Canada app takes care of all of the math when calculating your mortgage and expenses. You can change variables such as interest rate & amortization, it will automatically calculate the land transfer tax! This app is great because when comparing properties you can quickly plug in the numbers and instantly see what your monthly carrying cost would be leaving no room for confusion over how much a place will actually cost you every month.
Chances are you have browsed the realtor.ca website before, but with their app, you can view all of the listings on the go. Having the app makes it easy to see the details of a listing while you’re on showings, you can save a list of favourites so you can keep track of listings you are interested in.
This may be a no-brainer to some but taking notes while on showings is so important! This app is a default app on your iPhone and a similar version is on Androids. When you are viewing multiple places you may start to forget specifics of units. Using the notes app on your phone you can make simple pro’s and cons lists and snap and place photos of important features you want to remember. In a busy market when time is of the essence and you may not be able to get back into a unit before offering – your notes will much more reliable than your memory alone! It’s such a simple app but using it keeps you organized and prepared.
Another no-brainer – but the handy multiple route feature on google maps can make showings a breeze. I find this especially handy if you are following your agent in a separate car for, building to building. If you rely on just following them getting stuck at a light can throw you off. Once your agent confirms your showings and sends you the units in the viewing order you can create a google map adding stops along your route. So when you get in your car it will automatically guide you as you leave each location.

This app is so fun to play with and is a handy tool when especially when viewing vacant condos. This app lets you snap photos of a home and then using the app’s tool you can place furniture and accessories from top retailers right into the room, change colours on the walls and more. Make all of your interior decorating plans come to life before even moving in!
